Sex investigation by police

Police are investigating claims two young boys have been sexually assaulted in Shoebury. They're also appealling for a couple to come forward after they were approached by a 12 year old boy who thought he was being followed in Gunners Park on Saturday June 21st. 55 year old Paul Butts from Bryant Avenue in Southend has been charged in connection with an incident that day - and the day after.

Bail House Concerns in Castle Point

Castle Point's MP is raising concerns about the number of bail hostels appearing in the area. Bob Spink says people have noticed peculiar behaviour by residents who have no regard for the community.

Paying the pounds for our police

A shock new survey shows crime in the county is costing every one of us nearly 300 pounds EACH. The Taxpayers Allliance survey puts Essex 14th in a league table of UK police force areas they investigated.

Road chaos on A127

There's traffic chaos this morning after a burst gas pipe on the A127. It's believed a leak was caused by a third party who were doing work in the area between the A130 and Rayleigh Weir. That part of the Eastbound carriageway is now closed. National Grid say the earliest the road will re-open is midday.

No waste of time for Corey collections

Residents in Southend Borough Council are being given the chance to recycle even more items. Regular food waste collections are to start as part of the new contract with Corey following a successful trial.
