More RBS Job Losses
RBS is cutting another three and a half thousand jobs in 12 locaitons across the country. Service centre staff, IT and other support functions are going but Southend is unaffected.

Shoebury MOD Inquest - Verdict
An inquest into the death of a scientist at the Ministry of Defence in Shoeburyness has criticised planning and risk assessment at the site. 46 year old Terry Jupp was killed in an explosion during top-secret testing in 2002. A jury's concluded that the exercise was inadequately organised.

NHS Boost in Westcliff
Planning applications have been submitted for two new Primary Care Centres in Westcliff. The sites in North Road and Valkyrie Road could be open by the end of 2012 - serving 40 thousand patients.

Firearm Robbery in Burnham
A man's been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a cash in transit van was held up in Burnham. Around 8am this morning two people held up a guard near the Co-Op at Fiveways with a firearm - before escaping in a car. The vehicle was then found - along with the weapon and cash - a short distance away.

Spider Explosion!
Essex Fire and Rescue Service is urging people to always take care in the home - after a man in Clacton caused an explosion using an aerosol and a lighter. The 28 year old was trying to kill a spider - and after spraying it used the lighter to see what he was doing as his bathroom bulb was blown.
