When:
Saturday, 11/09/2010
Time: 10.30am-5.30pm

Information: The Old Leigh Regatta is a traditional seaside family occasion and is once again happening in Leigh’s picturesque and lively old town, this year on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th September. Come and join a weekend packed with fun for all ages! As well as children’s classics such as Punch & Judy, banana eating contests, and the popular coconut shy, there will be live music, delicious barbecued food, and plenty of stalls including lucky dip, hook-a-duck, and all the old Regatta favourites. Watch the Beavers and Cubs welly hoying, try your luck at climbing the Greasy Pole on Leigh beach, or come and cheer on the huge crowd pleaser that is Football on the mud. Other attractions include children’s rides, street entertainment, the official Scout Tea tent, and much, much more. Teams of Scouts competing in the pentathlon, which includes a Dinghy Tug-o-War and Dinghy Sculling, will be messing about on the water too, taking full advantage of the high tide. Proceeds from the Regatta are shared between the local Sea Scout groups and this year’s chosen charity; The Alzheimer’s Association, which provides information and support for people with all forms of memory problems, dementia and those who care for them. The Alzheimer’s Association has the ability to bring people together, reduce isolation and improve the wellbeing of the community, and the Regatta is proud to be supporting them. Join the late summer sunshine event and help to maintain one of our most popular local attractions. Programmes are available in some local shops, and during the Regatta for specific times of events. Saturday 12pm – 5pm, Sunday 10.30am - 5.30pm.
