Leigh Council Allotments Open Day

Information: There will be activities for all the family, whether green-fingered or ham-fisted! Throughout the event there will be activities for children, including craft fun and a Scarecrow competition. There will also be sales of plants and produce, a raffle, refreshments and home-made cakes, a barbecue, a wild flower quiz and other stalls. The ever popular Borderdash Morris Dancers and Yardarm Folk Orchestra will be there to entertain you - you can even join in the dancing if you feel energetic! Children of all ages will love the Nature Trail and bug hunt, finding insects, wild flowers and butterflies. In the past, some rare varieties have been found. During the day visitors will be able to see how allotment plots are maintained and the type and quality of produce that can be grown. With good fresh air, a leisurely stroll through the allotments and the opportunity to pick the brains of experienced allotment holders, there is no finer or healthier way to spend a Sunday.
